We invite you to join a unique guided tour of the Slovak Opal Mines. They are the oldest opal mines in the world. This unique attraction is located near the town of Prešov, where Slovak opal mining has a long tradition.
At present the mining works are often used for recreation. For less adventurous visitors, part of the most beautiful underground space has been transformed into accessible mines with artificial lighting, stairways and pathways, allowing them to pass through these areas with minimal effort. The mines are also used in the treatment of respiratory diseases by so-called speleotherapy.

Take a unique opportunity to enter these opal mines that had been closed to the public for several decades. In the mystical atmosphere of the colourful underground world, you will learn the history of mining in the area, you will find out all about the precious Slovak opal, directly in the only mining area of its kind in Europe and Asia. A tour of the mining underground space takes about 5 hours with experienced speleologists and opal hunters. The temperature in mining areas varies from +0.5°C to 6.4°C during the year. The price includes the rent of helmet, light + commentary.

The minimum number of people required for the tour is 4. The maximum number of people is 8. Free live entry requires considerable physical fitness, good health and stamina. Entry is not suitable for people suffering from claustrophobia. There are stable temperatures from + 0.5°C to + 6.4°C in the opal mines, so warm clothing and quality solid footwear are required.
